Leadership Teams (principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches & teacher leaders)
How do we increase opportunities for learning in the 2021-2022 school year?
We know there will always be some students who need extra support. We also know that disruptions from COVID impacted all students. With disruption comes opportunity. The lead4ward Intervention Series provides a framework for redesigning our thinking around intervention and ensuring that all students become successful, lifelong learners. We’ll explore how to help students reassemble the bits and pieces of learning and, through this process, gain greater understanding. We will also make connections to supplemental instruction requirements as outlined in HB4545 through the lens of process and prioritized content standards. Together, we’ll explore tools and processes to better assess individual student needs and progress.
Approaching intervention with varied opportunities for learning
As we prepare for students entering the new school year, we must provide varied opportunities for learning. As such, we must reimagine intervention. We’ll reexamine intervention through the lens of process vs. content and prioritize high-impact curriculum standards. We’ll refine and explore systems to create opportunities to learn: Intervention for All, Intervention for Some, and Intervention for a Few. And we’ll explore how to leverage lead4ward tools and strategies to inform intervention and to plan with renewed intention.
In this series, you’ll learn how to help students:
- get started
- engage in learning the content
- focus on what is important
- apply their learning
- make connections
- monitor their progress
We know that focusing on gaps becomes overwhelming. If we focus on opportunity to learn, it opens up where we go. So, let’s do this. Let’s open up where we will go. Join us in invoking a growth mindset and changing how we think about the words we use to create a better intervention experience for all students.
