lead4ward is committed to providing intentional, organized, and highly effective ways to plan for the 2021-22 school year! We have organized our focus areas into three chunks: intervention, STAAR 2.0, and those new to the profession and/or district. Some of you have plans in place, others of you are building structures, and some of you are just getting going. These resources are designed to help each of you.

staar 2.0

We will begin to prepare for the redesign of STAAR – the changes will require much more complex thinking for students. This requires exploring ways to help teachers use the 2021-22 school year to transition to the new cognitive requirements by providing an overview of the next generation of STAAR, thinking beyond item type to thinking demands, and adapting instruction to re-emphasize the role of process.

intervention

As we plan for intervention, we can move away from conversations about gaps and learning loss to conversations about creating opportunities to learn. This includes exploring ways leaders can create and implement systems for intervention for all, for some and for a few.

new to profession/district

With higher-than-normal levels of educator attrition, it is critical to prepare new to profession/new to district employees with additional support to get started on the right foot and adapt to district expectations through induction, mentoring, and common expectations.
