Pre-Production

Allow students to dictate their response to a peer or use speech-to-text tools. Permit drawings, labels, and short phrases to represent their thinking. Provide visuals or icons to support vocabulary.

Beginning

Ask students to label key elements in their sketches or visuals. Allow students to brainstorm ideas with a partner before trading papers. Provide simple frames such as “I like ___.”

Intermediate

Ask students to explain why their hashtag, visual, or response is relevant to the concept. Encourage students to provide simple reasoning using sentence stems such as “This shows ___ because ___.”

High Intermediate

Encourage students to give specific feedback on their partner’s work using frames such as “Your visual helps explain ___, but you could add ___.” or “I like your hashtag ___ because it connects to ___.”
