Beginning

Intermediate

Provide frames for more detailed justifications such as “This is the best answer because ___ aligns with ___.” or “This concept connects to ___.” Encourage students to deepen responses with prompts such as “What evidence supports this answer?” |
High Intermediate

After completing the Team–Pair–Individual stages, have students write a short explanation describing how their thinking evolved from collaboration to individual understanding. Ask students to analyze their reasoning using prompts such as “What makes this answer stronger than another?” |
Advanced
|
Challenge students to evaluate the reasoning behind multiple answers, defend their final decision with evidence, and explain how the concept applies to new situations using precise academic language. |
