Use a word bank with visuals or icons to help students brainstorm key concepts. Provide a simple template where students can draw, label, or point to ideas before explaining them verbally. |
Beginning
Encourage students to discuss ideas with a partner before sharing with the group. Provide guiding questions such as “Can you explain ___ another way?” or “What helped you understand this idea?” Offer sentence stems such as “This idea means ___.” |
Intermediate
Encourage students to justify their thinking using frames such as “This is a Rock Star idea because ___.” or “This is a Loopback idea because ___ and I still need help with ___.” |
High Intermediate
Ask students to analyze their own learning process with prompts such as “What strategies helped you understand your Rock Star ideas?” or “What resources would help you understand your Loopback ideas?” |
Advanced
Challenge students to evaluate their learning, explain why certain ideas demonstrate strong understanding, and identify strategies they will use to strengthen areas where they need support. |
